Marriage Records of Monroe Co, MO, Book A 1831-1849 - A man named Richard Stephens married Miss Patsy Hayley on Sep. 10, 1840 in Monroe Co, MO, married by William Shawver, JP. (Martha Patsy Haley was the daughter of Coleman & Eleanor Renfro Haley. Coleman Haley witnessed the will of William Clark in Garrard Co, KY in 1822. William Clark was the father of Elizabeth Clark who married Thomas L. Stephens, son of John Derben Stephens. Eleanor Renfro Haley was the daughter of Moses Renfro. John D. Stephens was a witness to the will of Moses Renfro in Garrard Co, KY in 1821. Also, a land ownership map shows that William Shawver lived north of Ash and south of Duncan's Bridge, north of the area where John Derben Stephens lived.)

Marriage Records of Monroe Co, MO, Book A 1831-1849 - Isaac Adams married Patsy Stephens, widow of Richard Stephens, formerly Patsy Haley, on Dec. 24, 1843 in Monroe Co, MO. (Since Patsy Stephens remarried in 1843, it is presumed that Richard died between 1841 & 1843.)

Based on the above information, including the family relationships, I have projected that Richard Stephens was probably the son of John Derben & Mary Stephens.
