He was retired from Riggs Tractor Company as a diesel mechanic after 41 years, and was a United States Army veteran. He was a former member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Bright Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Malvertie Gennings; two brothers, James Gennings and Joe Gennings; and was joined in death by his wife of 50 years, Linda Gail Martin Gennings.
