Marguerite M. Adams, 98, of Sulphur, La., formerly of Vandergrift, died Wednesday (April 16, 2003) in Holly Hills Nursing Home, Sulphur.

Born Sept. 14, 1904, in Hawthorn, Clarion County, she lived in Vandergrift before moving to Louisiana in 1990.

Mrs. Adams was a member of First Reformed Church of the United Church of Christ, the Auxiliary of Vandergrift Fire Department No. 2 and Eastern Star, all in Vandergrift.

Survivors include a daughter, Mondora Kurten of Sulphur; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Madeline Harris Shanafelt of Bradford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Lefty" Adams; her parents, J.J. and Minnie Hartzell Cyphert; a brother, Sherwood Cyphert; and two sisters, Ruth Adams and Esther Brown.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME, 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Rodney Murray will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
