Mrs. Leora DeWitt, 87, Lewistown, Mo., died December 11, 2006, at Country Aire Retirement Estates. Born August 27, 1919, at Canton, Mo., the daughter of Charles Gottlieb and Pauline Speckhart Ludwig. She married James Marvin DeWitt in LaGrange, Mo. He died January 17, 1995. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, LaGrange and attended Kirksville State Teachers College. She was employed by the Farmers Home Administration in Lancaster prior to her marriage. She worked at Culver-Stockton College as assistant to the food service director for 16 years and managed the Cats Paws for two years. She is survived by three sons, James Richard DeWitt and wife, Debra, Excello, Mo.; Thomas Edward DeWitt and wife, Veronica, Cuba, Ill.; and Charles Wesley DeWitt and wife, Lisa, Canton, Mo. Three daughters, Betty Ann Dehrend, Las Lunas, N.M.; Karent DeWitt and husband, Mike Ellis, Lake Station, Ind.; and Sharon DeWitt, Quincy, Ill. Surviving also is a sister, Mildred Farr, LaGrange, Mo.; six grandsons, James Thomas DeWitt, Charles Richard DeWitt, Charles Matthew DeWitt, Alex Ryan DeWitt, Jeffery Lee Behrend and James Robert Behrend, two granddaughters, Kay Meek and Betty Leora DeWitt. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Marissa Meek, Jordan DeWitt, Jackson DeWitt; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, Charles, James, Ralph and Julian Ludwig, and two sisters, Dorothy Feldkamp and Helen Eisenbeiss. Visitation is December 13, 2006, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton. Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m., December 14 at the Davis Funeral Home, Canton, with Rev. Brian Stone officiating. Burial is in Forest Grove Cemetery, Danton. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or the Diabetes Association.
