Dorwin "Jim" Lykins, 93, of Bluffton, passed away Saturday July 4, 2015, at
12:50 p.m. at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton.
Jim was born in Portland Monday, Sept. 19, 1921, the son of Archie and Pearl
(Ludy) Lykins. Jim graduated from the Jay County High School. Jim served in
the U.S. Army from Oct. 26, 1942, to Dec. 10, 1945, along with six of his
brothers, all at the same time and all seven brothers made it home alive.
Jim had worked as a mechanic for the J.C. Penny Co. and had also worked for
Goodyear Tire and General Tire. Jim enjoyed music and played the guitar.
Jim is survived by a sister, Sarah Schaffter of Bluffton, as well as several
nieces, nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Bob, Dan,
Nathaniel, Vilas, Archie, Nur, Fred; and sisters, Mary Osborne, Agnes
Shepherd and Waunita Lykins.
Per Jim's wishes there will be no services. Memorials may be made to the
Wells County Animal Shelter. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care
of Thoma/ Rich, Lemler Funeral Home. Friends may share condolences with
