Dan was one of the six children of Sylvenus Gilbert and Fannie (Townsend) Campbell. He was wed to Miss Clara Hayden and they had two sons. Dan and Clara ran a successful farm in Dickersonville across from the Methodist church. He lost Clara when he was about 87 and joined her when he was almost 90 years old.
