Mrs. Cannis Lovelene Brady Handy age 67 of 124 Bourbon Trail, Mount Airy, wife of Harvey W. Handy, Sr., passed away at her home on Sunday, December 31, 2006. Mrs. Handy was born in Carroll County on October 18, 1939 daughter of the late Dewey E. Brady and Dora C. Marshall Brady. Surviving are her husband, Harvey W. Handy, Sr. of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dena and Paul Newman and Tina and Eddy Combs all of Mount Airy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Lisa Handy of Advance, Harvey and Lisa Handy of Mount Airy and Randy and Leah Handy of Mount Airy; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Prinnie Compton of Martinsville; a sister-in-law, Pauline Brady of Laurel Fork, VA and several special friends. In addition to her parents Mrs. Handy was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Brady and a brother-in-law, Otis Compton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Dud Spencer and Rev. Johnny Johnson with burial to follow in the Rome Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, Penny Bowman, Delores Johnson, Deborah Matty and Libby Marion. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
