She was born March 16, 1914, in Fairbury, a daughter of William Thomas and Rhoda Chapman Billingsley. She married Eugene V. Zimmerman on Oct. 5, 1934 in Chicago. He died Sept. 1, 1986.
Survivors include three sons, Roger (Norma) Zimmerman, Bloomington; Gerald Zimmerman, Chicago; Rodney Zimmerman, Fairbury; and one daughter, Nancy (Steve) Orchard, Bettendorf, Iowa; six grandchildren, Erin, Michael, Greg, Lori, Rebecca and John; and eight great-grandchildren, Joey, Kate, Nicholas, Emily, Sarah, Eric, Tyler and Connor.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Ivan; two sisters, Delsey and her twin, Muriel; and one daughter, Gaile Elaine.
Mildred loved every day of her life in the little house in Fairbury. She was an excellent homemaker and kept books for the family construction business. She often said, "If you can't say something good about someone, don't say anything at all." Bad words and thoughts were not for her ears. She had a keen interest in national and world events. She liked to show her love by cooking and serving delicious meals. You were never hungry at her house.
Now she is resting and at peace with her maker. We, her offspring, are thankful for her life. Though gone, she still guides us every day.
