John B."Junior" Davis, 81, of Laurel, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Lebanon Baptist Church in Jones County with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Johnathan McLemore, Dallas Hickey, Eugene Murphy, Harold Floyd and Aaron Maxwell will officiate.
He retired from Masonite Corp. after 48 years of service and was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. He enjoyed working in his garden and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Rea Davis; five sisters, Lillie Rea Cooley, Vina Duck, Stella Harrison, Phronia Walters and Dago Cooley; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alene "Cat" Jefcoat Davis of Laurel; a son, Johnny Davis of Laurel; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Charles McLemore of Laurel; grandchildren and their spouses, Maria and Dallas Hickey, Johnathan and Cannie McLemore, Josh Davis and Aaron and Karen Davis; six great-grandchildren, Kierstan Hickey, Malachi Hickey, Josiah Hickey, Maciah Hickey, Michael Davis and Carmen Ainsworth; a sister, Geraldine Pitts of Laurel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Jefcoat, Billy Ray Mauldin, Donald Davis, Mike Hayes, Homer Cooley, Freddie Strickland, Ricky Bynum and Roger Jefcoat.
Honorary pallbearers are Robert Burkes, James Jones, Jimmy Temple, Larry Jefcoat, Ruben Bryant, George Harper and Dennis Hill.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. today, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel which is in charge of arrangements.
