Mrs. Petty was the widow of a prominent San Antonio oil operator and one of the founders of the Petty Geophysical Engineering Co. of San Antonio. Her memberships included the San Antonio Conservation Society, Symphony Society, Salvation Auxiliary and the Ol'Shavanoah Chaper of DAR Magna Charta Dames, Tuesday Musical Club, and Woman's Club. She was also a founder of the Chrysanthemum Ball. She was a member of the Church of Christ Scientist of San Antonio. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Reagan Tucker, and a son, Van A. Petty III, both of San Antonio; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth Campbell of El Segundo, Calif.; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.(Obituary thanks to Mission Burial Park South.)
