Jeremiah H. Mahoney was married to Ada Louisa Phippen. He was her second husband. She had married and divorced Aroet Hale and had a daughter in 1858 from that marriage. Ada's family moved to the area of Coalville probably in 1861 from Grantsville, Utah. Ada's father "built a sawmill near the headwaters of Chalk Creek."

Records show Jeremiah and Ada were married in Coalville, Summit, Utah 17 May 1863. They continued living in the Coalville area.

They had two boys, Jeremiah Worthington Mahoney and Elmer Clarence Mahoney.

From a history of Ada Louisa:

"When Jerry was four and Elmer two years old, their father was hurt while digging in a well and he developed pneumonia. Later, on a trip to Salt Lake, he was thrown from a wagon and injured and died from the effects of both on April 5th, 1868. He is buried near Chalk Creek."

The exact location of the burial of Jeremiah Mahoney is unknown at this point. He may have been buried on the family property. A trip to the Coalville Cemetery showed that he is not listed there.

There is a sister, Harriet Emily Mahoney Staley, buried at Upton Cemetery, Utah - which is about 10 miles up Chalk Creek from Coalville. A brother, Stephen C. Mahoney, also died in the Coalville area, no record of where.

Ada subsequently married William Henry Walker as his second wife and, along with her three children, they moved to the Heber City area, then to the Provo River above Hailstone Junction.
