SERVICES WEDNESDAY FOR MRS. APPLEQUIST
Services will be Wednesday, May 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the Mission Covenant Church in Stanton for Effie Otelia Applequist, 75, who died Sunday, May 11, 1962 at her home in Stanton. Mrs. Applequist had been in failing health for three years.
Rev Fred Jansson will officiate. Burial will be Mission Cemetery, Stanton, with the Sellergren service in charge.
Born in Page County, Mrs. Applequist was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Abrahamson. She married Simon Applequist on June 13, 1900 in Nyman, Iowa.
The Applequist lived in Lindborg, Kansas for 13 years, before moving near Stanton. At various times they cared for 42 different children in their home.
Surviving are her husband; three foster daughter, Mrs. Martin Johnson of Essex, Mrs. Lawrence Broberg of Lindborg, Kansas, and Mrs. Arthur Fleming of Essex; two foster sons, Henry Applequist of Essex, and Frank Anderson, of Evansville, Indiana; a sister, Mrs. Andrew Pearson, of Red Oak, two brothers, Charles Abrahamson and Anfred Abrahamson, both of Red Oak.

Funeral services were Wednesday t the Mission Covenant Church for Effie Otelia Applequist, 75, who died Sunday at her home south of Stanton after an illness three years. Rev. Fred Jansson had charge of the services and burial was in the Mission Cemetery. Music was by a male quartet and E. E. Larson sang a Swedish song. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Winstone served on the floral committee.
Pall bearers were Elder, Bert, and Clifford Palmquist, Aron Johnson, George Anderson, Paul Hogberg, Gordon Hogberg, and Iva Franseen.
Mr. and Mrs. Applequist cared for 42 children at various time who came from a New York welfare home. They had no children of their own. Surviving are her husband, three foster daughters, Mrs. Martin Johnson of Essex, Mrs. Lawrence Broberg, of Lindborg, Kansas, and Mrs. Arthur Flemming of Essex; two foster sons, Henry Applequist of Essex and Frank Anderson of Evansville, Indiana. A sister, Mrs. Andrew Pearson of Red Oak, and two brothers Charles and Anfred Abrahamson, both of Red Oak, Iowa.
