Major League Baseball Player. For five seasons (1969 to 1973), he was a pitcher with the Cleveland Indians and New York Mets. Born Phillip Winston Hennigan, he attended Jasper High School in Texas and later played collegiate baseball at Sam Houston State University. Selected by the Cleveland Indians during the 4th round of the 1966 Amateur Draft, his professional career was delayed while he served for two years with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He made his Major League debut with Cleveland on September 2, 1969 and pitched in nine games that season. The following year (1970), he produced a career-high six wins and in 1971, he yielded a career-high 14 saves as he led the Indians in that category. He pitched in 30 games with the New York Mets teams which captured the National League Pennant in 1973. After retiring from baseball, he worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety and later was a law enforcement officer.
