Phoebe Lucinda Miller was born on 29 July 1844 in the state of Ohio. She was the daughter of Stephen B. and Minerva (Stocker) Miller.

Later she met Gilbert Pell Brant. They married on 15 July 1860 at Alta, Iowa. Their known children were: Mary Rosetta, Gilbert S., Sylvia P., Clara Ann, Perry Leslie, Emma M., Sarah Alta, Delbert Ezra, Mary Maude,and Nettie E. Brant.

At the age of eighty three, on 30 March 1928, Phoebe passed away in Bremerton, Washington.
