Louisa Catherine Denny was the daughter of Arthur Armstrong Denny and Mary Ann Boren Denny. In 1851, she traveled across the Plains from Illinois to Seattle with her father's wagon train. On Oct. 25, 1860, she married George Frederick Frye. Louisa and George had six children: James Marion; Mary Louise; Sarah Sophia; George Arthur; Roberta Gertrude; and Elizabeth Helen. After George died in 1912, she continued to manage his business interests until her death.
