From his obituary published in the Seattle Daily Times, May 13, 1919:
Charles L. Denny, 58 years of age, youngest son of A. A. Denny, founder of Seattle, and Mary Anne Boren Denny, died of heart failure this morning at 9 o'clock.

Mr. Denny was born in Seattle May 21, 1861, in the old Denny home at the corner of First Avenue and Marion Street on the day when the cornerstone of the University of Washington was laid.

In 1887 Mr. Denny married Miss Viretta C. Chambers, one of ten daughters of Andrew J. Chambers, of an old Olympia family.

Mr. Denny is survived by his wife and by two sons, Andrew C. Denny, recently honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and Horton Herschel Denny, now in California in the service of the government.
