Son of Lazarus Minor and Mary "Polly" Jones, husband of Nancy Mason Veal, whom he married on February 27, 1845 in DeKalb County, Georgia, and father of Clara (married John Bailis Lankford), Lazarus J., William Jackson, Mary Medora (married William Newton "Newt" Garner), Edna (married Street), Georgia (married Robert Cotesworth Lankford), Leona (married Robert Pinkney Garner), Azora, John, Evaline and Ova Alice Minor (married George W. Freeman)

Husband of Mary E. Holt, whom he married on January 12, 1866 in Gwinnett County, Georgia, and father of Daniel Chester, Charles E., Cora Bell (married Thomas L. Freeman), Augustus G., Permelia (married Guy S. Snead), Eva, George Sydney, and Eufala Minor.

Marriage - Georgia, DeKalb - To any Minister of the County, Judge, Justice of the Inferior Court, or Justice of the Peace: You are hereby authorized to join George W. Minor and Nancy Veal in holy matrimony, according to the constitution and law of this state, and for doing so this shall be your sufficient license Given under my hand and seal, this 27th day of February 1845. On July 9, his widow, Mary E. Minor, applied for widow's benefits, filed from the state of Ohio, for George W. Minor, alias George W. Melton, who served in B 3 Ind. Cav.

(Note: This tombstone has the top missing and there is no data on the remaining stone. But, there is a smaller foot stone with the initials "G. W. M." facing away from the headstone in the same manner as the footstone for Nancy M. Minor. According to the write up in the Gwinnett County, Georgia Deaths 1818-1989", by the Gwinnett Historical Society, Inc. the tombstone for George W. Minor has a "masonic emblem" with the name and dates on it. Also, there is another note for Andrew J. Minor stating "uninscribed marker between Geo. W. h/Nancy Mason MINOR".)
