Wallace Bass was born March 12, 1860, at Malden Illinois. He was the son of Edwin and Emaline Stanard Bass, the former a native of Scotland, Connecticut, and the latter of Madison county, New York, who settled in Bureau County in 1840. When 21 years of age, Mr. Bass went to Lee County and engaged in farming, where he remained for 13 years. In 1894 he moved to Walnut, where he resided until his death, October 31st.

On December 15, 1886 he was married to Miss Cora A. Stone. He is survived by his wife and three children, Mrs. Alice Craig, Glenn and Leo Bass, four grandchildren, Wallace, Bobby and Marilyn Bass and Coradale Craig, all of Walnut and three brothers; Lucian of Princeton; Dr. Luther G. and Alonzo of Chicago. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar and Edwin and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Phillips and four other brothers and sisters, who died in infancy.
