February 21, 1929 - August 20, 2016
On a warm Saturday afternoon, August 20, 2016, our beloved uncle, Johnnie passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years. Uncle John will always be loved and never forgotten by his sister-in-law, Ilene Blasko; nieces, Shelley Bannister (Jack); Sheri Fielding (Scott); nephews, Brian (Vicki) Blasko; Bobbie (Collette) Blasko; Larry (Linda) Blasko; Garry (Diane) Blasko; Gordon (Irene) Blasko; and Trevor (Andrea) Blasko; as well as numerous great-nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph (1972) and Agnes (1956); brothers, Steve (1987); Joe (2003); Rudy (1926) and Ejnar (2010); nephew, Greg (2009).
John was born on the family farm, near Rochfort Bridge. After graduation from high school, he worked as a Cat operator. In 1951, he completed his Portrait and Commercial Photography training and opened up Blasko Studios in Mayerthorpe, which he operated for 43 years. In 1994, he retired and spent his time golfing and volunteering. Our Uncle John was a true gentleman and he will be forever missed by his family, friends and the community of Mayerthorpe.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 1 p.m. Both will be at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mayerthorpe. A celebration of Uncle John's life will follow at the Mayerthorpe Legion. Interment at the Mayerthorpe Cemetery. Donations gratefully accepted to the Friends of the Mayerthorpe Public Library, Box 810, Mayerthorpe, Alberta, T0E 1N0.
