MRS. M. W. MACDONALD, OF RICHMOND, (Formerly of Gould) [Flora Annie Nicholson]

GOULD -- One of Gould oldest and most highly respected former residents, passed away on April 3 at the Wales Home, Richmond, in the person of Flora Annie Nicholson Bender MacDonald. She was in her 98th year.

Mrs. MacDonald was born on March 10, 1864, the youngest daughter and last surviving member of the family of the late Donald Nicholson and his wife, the former, Isabella MacKay.

The deceased was first married to Harry Bender of Lawrence, Mass., who predeceased her in 1897. On October 10, 1906 she married Murdo W. MacDonald of Gould.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. H. Steacy, Hazel, of Gananaoque, Ont., eight grand children and nine great-grand children.

Aunt Annie, as she was known to all, was a loving wife and mother and a true friend to all who knew her.

The funeral, under the direction of Messrs. Clark and MacAulay, of Bishopton, was held from the home of her niece, Mrs. E. G. Henry, where family prayers were held. Thence to Chalmer's United Church where the service took place, with Rev. E. Breen, of Cookshire officiating.

Two favorite hymns were rendered by the choir, Abide With Me and Jesus Lover of My Soul with Miss Florence Duffy as organist. The bearers were Alex and George MacKay, Douglas Beaton, Malcolm B. MacDonald and Alex and Harry Morrison.

Burial was in the Gould Cemetery.

Among relatives present were: her husband of Richmond; her daughter, Hazel, and granddaughter Mrs. W. S. Landon, Gananoque; Ont., Mr. and Mrs. N. C. MacDonald, Portland, Me.; Mr. H. S. MacDonald, of Lansdowne, Ont.; Mrs. Dora MacAskill, Mrs. K. R. MacLeod and Mrs. A. MacKenzie, St. Johns, Que.; Mrs. A. Button, of Sommerville, Mass.
