MURDO W. MACDONALD OF GOULD

GOULD -- The death of one of this community's oldest and highly respected residents, Murdo W. MacDonald, occurred at the Wales Home in Richmond, on Oct. 12.

Mr. MacDonald was the third eldest son of the late John F. MacDonald and his wife, Mary Ann Beaton, who were amongst the first settlers of Gould.

Mr. MacDonald, who was born April 8, 1877, spent several years in Western Canada, where he homesteaded with his brothers. Later he returned to Quebec, where he married the late Flora Annie Nicholson Bender, who predeceased him April 3rd of this year. On Oct. 10, 1956, Mr. and Mrs. MacDonald celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Left to mourn are his daughter, Mrs. Hazel N. Steacy, of Gananoque, Ont., eight grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren, one sister, four brothers and several other relatives.

The remains were brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. Annie J. Morrison, North Hall [North Hill?], where family prayers were held on Sunday, Oct. 15, at 1.30 p.m. thence to Chalmers United Church where the funeral service was conducted by Rev. E. Breen, of Cookshire, Mrs. A.E. Gates was organist.

The bearers were Alec and George MacKay, Douglas and Howard Beaten and Alec and Harry Morrison.

Among those present were his daughter, Hazel, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Steacy, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Steacy, Mr. and Mrs. Don Coughler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Chisamore and daughter, Miss Sheila Steacy, Mr. Wim. Hayden, Mr. Eric Tuesdall, of Gananoque; Mr. land Mrs. John Fodey, and sons, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. MacDonald and Mrs. Krisdell, of Mansonville, Mr. and Mrs. N. C. MacDonald, of Portland, Me: Mr. Gordon Grey, of Wellend, Ont.; and Mrs. Dora MacCaskill, of St. Johns. Que.
