He was born September 7, 1932 in Arcadia, Nebraska, a son to Jim and Laura (Williams) Hagood. Bill graduated from Arcadia high school. He lived in Cheyenne most of his life and was employed as a Wyoming Highway Patrolman, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, and then became the Safety Officer for the State of Wyoming Highway Department. He retired after working 42 and one half years.

Bill married Betty J. Tate on February 19, 1955.

Bill enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing cards and was an animal lover.

Survivors include his wife Betty; son, William Dean Hagood II; daughters, Valerie Hagood, Vanessa Montemayer and Melissa Taylor; grandsons; William D. Hagood III; Dominic and Aidan Taylor; granddaughters, Andrea Bloom and Quentin Montemayor; a brother, Donald Hagood; a great granddaughter, Kristian Hagood and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Patrick Hagood; his parents; brothers, Bob and John Hagood; sisters, Wilma Prickett, Betty Null and Jeanne Nelson Lesser.
