Mr. David Wesley “Snuffy” Allen, Sr., 73, of West Columbia, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at his home. Born in Lexington, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Belle Gulledge Allen. In addition to his parents, Snuffy was predeceased by two sisters: Elaine and Rosalie; and brothers: J. P. and Carey Allen.
Snuffy was a long-time employee of Covenant Transport and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, Gamecocks football and spending time with his grandsons and family. The family would like to thank those employees of Diemond’s Bar for their loving help and kindness for the last few years of Snuffy’s life.
He is survived by his son: David W. Allen, Jr (Mindy) of Lexington; grandsons: Kody, Cole, and Brody Allen; wife: Barbara Allen; brother: Ronald Norris Allen (Melinda) of Sumter; brother-in-law: Eugene “Red” Weed; sister-in-law: Doris Allen; several beloved nieces and nephews; and a large and loving extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp T.A.L.K. (a camp for children living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including Snuffy’s grandson, Brody) P.O. Box 2155, West Columbia, SC 29171.
