Funeral services for Ruby Lee Riddle Carter will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in Amiable Baptist Church, Glenmora, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverends Dwayne Davis, Bill Smith and Bert Riddle officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Mrs. Ruby entered eternal rest on Monday, November 27, 2006 in Alexandria at the age of 92. She was a member of Amiable Baptist Church. She enjoyed WMU and teaching Bible School. She also loved to crochet and work in her garden and yard. In 1939 she received her Teacher's Certificate from NSU in Natchitoches. She taught one year at Dry Creek School before marrying Herbert "Hub" Carter and starting their family. She was a "stay-at-home" Mother until her children left home; at which time, she went to work at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home. For twenty-three years, she was a faithful worker who trained many workers before retiring to care for her husband.

Mrs. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert F. Carter, her parents, William "Bill" and Mamie Riddle, and three sisters, Willye McMain, Myrtis Tilley, and Bertie Carter.

She is survived by one son, William Franklin Carter and wife, Maria of Ragley; one daughter, Mary K. Bass and husband, W.D. of Forest Hill; six grandchildren, Greg Carter, John Wagner, and Theresa Jiminez and her husband, Jerry, all of Ragley, David Bass and wife, Doni of Alexandria, Kevin Bass, Sr. and wife, Angie of Calcasieu, and Paul Bass of Forest Hill and his fiancé, DeeDee Stanley of Lecompte; ten great grandchildren, Ashli and Austin Jiminez, Brandi Hebert, Micheal and Kameron Carter, Shawn Woodruff, Laura, Kevin, Jr., Sarah and Katelyn Bass, and also special to her, Jesse Bass, Britini and Christin Bowman, and Charli Stanley.

Friends may call at Amiable Church, Glenmora on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
