80 of Galesburg and formerly of Avon, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 14, 2016 at his home.
He was born March 5, 1936, the son of Eugene “Red” and Ethel Bernice “Babe” Harris Jennings. He married Mary Lou Kness on January 27, 1957 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on July 13, 1983. He later married Sandy Godsil on October 21, 1984 in Galesburg. She survives.
Bill is also survived by his children Jeff (Marty) Jennings of Washington, Monty Jennings of Fairview, Cindy (Steve) Anderson of Avon, Greg (Joyce) Godsil of Downers Grove and Barbara (Chris) Robinson of Oceanside, California; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Gary Scott “Scotty” Jennings and Kerry Jennings, and three grandchildren.
Bill graduated from Avon High School in 1954. He worked as a Journeyman Electrician with the I.B.E.W. in Galesburg and Peoria for 41 years, retiring in 1998. He was a 60 year member and Master of the Avon Harmony Masonic Lodge 253. He enjoyed coffee with his friends, riding his Harley Motorcycle and he was a NASCAR fan.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in the Avon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel with a Masonic service at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
