Agnes O. Martin

Agnes O. Martin, 79, of Sweetwater died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, in the Hendrick Medical Center.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in the Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Rodriguez officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of the Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, in the funeral home.

Ms. Martin was born on July 29, 1927, in Miles City, Mont. While growing up, Agnes lived in and around Miles City, Mont., and worked for her uncle on different ranches. She also worked as a waitress in several cafes from 1947 to 1950.

She married Clinton Hopper in 1948, and in 1950, they moved to California and made a home. She worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft Company from 1966 to 1972 as a structural assembler.

In 1972, she moved to Sweetwater. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Hopper of La Palma, Calif., Sheldon Hopper of Bellflower, Calif., and Bruce Hopper of Staton, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and her companion, Arvie Martin of Sweetwater.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentino and Catherine Dyba; one son, Alan Hopper; one grandson, Bruce Hopper Jr.; one brother, Joseph Dyba; and one sister, Irene Dyba Reed.
