Vera Lee (Keen) Hinkle went home to be with our Lord on Monday, August 1, 2016. She was 90 years of age, and lived a full and blessed life.

Vera was born in Phenix, Missouri, August 28, 1925, to Albert Carl Keen and Myrtle Grant. She had 12 brothers and sisters. She was joined in marriage to James Kern Hinkle on August 16, 1946. They celebrated 50 plus years of marriage before James passed, and together they had 2 children; Robert and Norma.

Vera was a brave woman who proudly served our nation long after the war as she fearlessly cared for her children and grandchildren, as well as being a hardworking, dedicated farmer’s wife. Vera was also very active in teaching Sunday School classes at Springhill Baptist Church for many years.

Vera was preceded in death by her loving husband, James, her parents, Carl Keen and Myrtle Hopper, and 7 siblings.

She is survived by her sister, Joanna Samson, step-sister, Sally Graves, 2 brothers; Don Keen and David Keen, her children, Robert Hinkle and wife, Linda, Norma May and husband, Gregory May. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren; James May and Melissa May, and Leigha Brandt and Dana Brandt, and one precious great-grandchild, Alexander James May.

Vera will be laid to rest on Thursday, August 4, 2016. There will be visitation at Greenlawn Funeral Home North at 1:00pm, with funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Burial will be in Greene Lawn Cemetery in Walnut Grove, Missouri. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations will can be made to Disabled Veterans in Springfield.
