Elizabeth Walden - daughter of Charles Walden. Her mother is not known but research indicates it may be Rebecca Duncan daughter of Thomas and Mary Duncan.

Elizabeth was the first wife of William Beverly Hargraves married in May 1861 and the mother of 10 children, Nancy Rebecca (McDaniel), Mary Jane (McDaniel), William Thomas, Charles Hardy, John M. Lafayette, Joseph Abraham, Alice Elizabeth (Bennett), Susan Priscilla (Bennett), Sarah Adaline (O'Steen), and Millicent Lucretia (Herrin/Herring).

Elizabeth's headstone was vandalized after the picture was taken in 1985. The vandalized stone is shown in the second photograph. The top of above ground vault has since been resealed. The grave is to the left of William Beverly Hargraves (as you face the stone).

Inscription

"In Sacred Memory of Elizabeth Hargraves.
She is a fond mother and a friend to all.
"So fades the lovely blooming flower
Frail, smiling solace of an hour
So soon our transient comforts fly
And pleasure only blooms to die."
