Pneumonia Proves Fatal
She Leaves Husband and eight children to mourn their loss-funeral will be Monday
Mrs. Samuel Miller of Clear Creek township died Friday evening at eight after an illness of ten days with pneumonia. Her husband had been taken sick with the disease before her but while he was getting better, she was stricken with the same disease and rapidly grew worse.
Mrs. Miller’s maiden name was Elizabeth Edgecomb, and she was born in Allen county, Ohio, April 27, 1839, making her age seventy-one years, ten months and six days. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Brethren church from the age of nineteen.
March 19, 1862, she was married to Samuel Miller and lived in Ohio until 1889. They then moved to Woodson, Kansas, where they resided three years. They then moved to a residence in Bourbon county, (Kansas), where they lived four years and seven months. From Bourbon county they moved to Huntington county and resided here one year. Next move was to Piatt county, Ill., where they lived three years. Sixteen years ago they moved to the homestead three miles south of town and have lived there since.
Surviving are the husband, eight children, three brothers, two sisters, thirty-four grandchildren and two great grand children. The children are Mrs. Jenetta Burket of Allen county, Ohio; William D. Miller of Redfield, Kan.; Mrs. Mary Wine of Clear Creek township; Samuel R. Miller of Gridley, cofee county, Kansas; John C. Miller of Bourbon county, Kan.; Uriah Miller of Piatt county, Ill.; Wilson Miller of Makin ? (Macon?) county, Ill., and Walter S. Miller of this county. Brothers and sisters are Wilson Edgecomb of Layplace (sic LaPlace), Ill., William Edgecomb of near Parsons, Kan., Samuel Edgecomb of Oklahoma, Mrs. Hattie (Harriett) Huff of Decatur, Ill., and Mrs. Sallie (Sarah) Ann Overley of McCune, Kan. Grover Wine, now studying for the ministry at North Manchester, is a grandson.
The funeral will be held Monday at the Clear Creek church leaving the residence at ten. Rev. John Misher of South Whitley will officiate and the interment will be at the Clear Creek cemetery.
