ALEXANDRIA — CIoyd J. Pierce Sr., 46, passed away at 2:30 am. Sunday at Community Hospital, Anderson, following a four-day illness.

Mr. Pierce resided on Rt. 1, Alexandria, Bethel Pike. He was utility man in Dept. 502, Guide Lamp, in Anderson.

He was born May 22, 1916 in Alexandria, the son of William and Vida Maddox Pierce. He married Anna M. Robertson on June 12, 1937, in Libertyville, Ind,

Mr. Pierce was a member of the Frankton Christian Church, the Knights of Pythias, Masonic Lodge No. 235 of Alexandria, Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, and the Alexandria chapel of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include the widow, Anna; one son, Cloyd (Jack), at home; two daughters, Mrs. Gretehen Abernathy of Orestes, and Mrs. Marilyn A. King, Alexandria; his mother, Mrs. Vida Pierce, Alexandria; two sisters, Nerhersta Roberts of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Wright, Alexandria; five brothers, McClellan, Charles, Robert and Edmund, all of Alexandria, and James of Anderson, and five grandchildren.

The body Avis taken to the Karl M. Kyle Funeral Home where friends are being received.

Order of Easters Star memorial services were held Monday evening at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted there tonight at 8 o'clock.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Frankton Christian Church with the Rev. Nutter Hughes in charge. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery.
