ALEXANDRIA — Anna M. (Robertson) Pierce Engle, 84, went home to be with her Lord Sept. 4, 2002, at Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 7, 1916, in Clinton, the daughter of Charles and Lottie (Tennis) Robertson, and had lived in Alexandria for 68 years.

She had been employed at the former Commercial Bank and Trust Co. in Alexandria for 15 years and retired in 1978. She was a 50-year member of the Alexandria Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 179, and a 50-year member of the Pythian Sisters 264 of Frankton.

For many years Anna had enjoyed spending the winters in Florida and in doing so added the many friends she made in Florida to her extended family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed her help, understanding or comfort.

She found pleasure and satisfaction in her own skills and abilities, she especially enjoyed crocheting, all kinds of crafts, playing cards and cooking.

Anna always had a smile, she brought laughter and joy wherever she might be. Her smile and laugh died a few years ago due to Parkinson’s disease, but it will never be forgotten. She was a member of the Christian Congregation Church in Alexandria.

Survivors include three children, Marilyn (husband, Larry) King of Alexandria, Gretchen (husband, Steve) Abernathy of Humble, Texas, and Cloyd “Jack” (wife, Diana) Pierce Jr. of Lorida.
