William John Buchinger was the tenth of eleven children born to John Michael Buchinger and his wife Margaretha Barbara Bauer Buchinger of Richville, Tuscola Co., MI. He grew up on the family farm. On December 26, 1903 in Frankenmuth, MI, William married Helen Stahl (1882-1973) of Frankenmuth. The couple had four children: William G. (b. 1906), Lenore Marie (b. 1908), Marie Adeline (b. 1914), and Allen Elmer (b. 1920). William farmed until the late 1920s when he and his family moved to Detroit where he opened a confectionary store. He died of cancer at the age of 55.
