Utahna was dedicated to her family and they were her highest priority in life. She worked as a social worker's aid for the State of Utah for 20 years and then retired in January 1993. She was active in the Spanish Fork Senior Citizens and loved to go line dancing with her friends. Embroidery, crocheting, needlework, and gardening were some of her favorite activities. She was an avid reader and loved to learn. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Utahna is survived by her children, Jerry (Kathy) Thomas, Janet (Kevin) Patterson, Gina Martinez, and Anthony Mitchell; sisters, Lola Hall, Kay Beddoes, Pat Huff, and sister-in-law, Dorthella Benson. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, who adore her. Utahna was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Ferne Benson; a brother, Glen Benson; and a granddaughter, Stormie Mitchell.
Her family expresses thanks to the ICU staff at Mt. View Hospital for their attention to and care of Utahna.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rock Cove Ward Chapel, 2162 E. Canyon Road, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may visit Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Payson Cemetery
