Mary Owen Barrow, daughter of Frederick and Mary Barrow, was born at Winchester, Virginia, Dec. 16, 1860, where she spent her childhood **** came to Illinois with her parents, settling on a farm which her parents had purchased two miles east of Gibson City, now owned and occupied by Geo. Dueringer.
She was married to Samuel H. Preston April 18, 1881. After five years residing in Gibson City Mr. and Mrs. Preston moved to the Scotland farming neighborhood (in ILLINOIS) , where they lived nine years. They moved back to Gibson City and erected their home on North Church street, where they spent the remainder of their days. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1932. The following year August 21, 1933, Mr. Preston passed away. One daughter, Rhea Preston, died Aug. 20, 1911. Mrs. Preston is survived by one daughter, Miss Faye Preston, a teacher in the Decatur public schools. She is also survived by two brothers, Hamilton J. Barrow and Charles F Barrow, both of Gibson City.
*** life were lived in Gibson City and its environs, a life enriched and strengthened by the brave struggles of pioneer days. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. She spent last winter in Decatur with her daughter Faye, and had planned to return to Decatur this week to *** in failing health for several years. She will be greatly missed.
