BARROW, J.W. - 94, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday at the home of his son, John Barrow. Heart disease caused his death. He had been a paralytic invalid about a year and a half. Born 5-15-1837 at New Town, VA. the son of Frederick and Sarah McClune Barrow. In 1859 he came to the home of his uncle, Judge McClune of Bloomington, IL. He farmed one year on the Mackinaw River and herded cattle on the prairies of central Illinois. Mr. Barrow married Esther L. TOWNER of Forrest on Christmas Day in 1879. They lived at Gibson City 18 years and from there moved to Marion Co. They spent the past two years near and in Colfax, IL. Surviving are his widow and six children; Fred of Los Angeles, Ca.; Frank of Chicago; Clyde and Ed of Salem; John of Colfax and Mrs. Etta Bryant of Gibson City. There are two brothers, Hamilton and Charles and a sister, Mrs. S.H. Preston of Gibson City. There are also four great grandchildren. There were three sons and two daughters who preceded him in death. When a young man, he united with the White Cross United Bretheran Church in Virginia. He also taught school there. Burial was in the Gibson City Cemetery.
