Leonard Andrew Stoecklein, 80, Ness City, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Ness County Hospital, Ness City.
He was born Oct. 28, 1933, in rural Ness County near Bazine to Martin and Anna (Depperschmidt) Stoecklein.
He married Clarice Werth on Oct. 11, 1958, in Schoenchen.
He was a farmer and worked for Texaco as a mechanic until retirement. He was a lifetime resident of Ness County and was a great husband, father and grandfather. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Kevin Stoecklein and wife, Amy, Ness City; three daughters, RoxAnne Erb and husband, Eldon, Broomfield, Colo., Susan Swim and husband, Don, Chandler, Ariz., and Stephanie Stoecklein, Hutchinson; three brothers, Jim Stoecklein, Hutchinson, Don Stoecklein, Olathe, and Martin Stoecklein Jr., Eufaula, Okla.; four sisters, Mary Ann Pavlu, Topeka, Sister Darlene Stoecklein, El Paso, Texas, Betty Gassman, Manhattan, and Donna Werth, Great Bend; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. Stoecklein; three brothers, Harvey, Gary and Melvin; an infant brother; and five sisters, Dorothy Mae, Sister Virginia Stoecklein, LuVera Rohr, Cleo Werth and Judy Stoecklein.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ness City; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be until 3 p.m. Monday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, or prior to service Tuesday at the church. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
