Cleo graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1949. She was a homemaker and worked as a PBX operator and did secretarial work at Hutchinson National Bank. Cleo was a member of Church of the Holy Cross and the Altar Society.
On November 25, 1952, she married Alfred J. “Al” Werth in Sacred Heart Church in Ness City. He survives.
Other survivors include: children, David Werth and wife Denise, of Salina, Marie Dick and husband Greg, of Hutchinson, Alan Werth and wife Susan, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Paula Mayes, of Hutchinson; sisters, Mary Ann Pavlu, of Topeka, Sister Darlene Stoecklein, of El Paso, Texas, Betty Gassman, of Manhattan, and Donna Werth, of Great Bend; brothers, Leonard Stoecklein, of Ness City, Jim Stoecklein, of Hutchinson, Don Stoecklein, of Spring Hill, and Marty Stoecklein, of Eufaula, Okla.; grandchildren, Michele Lambert, Cheryl Werth, Adam Dick, Michael Mayes, Blake Werth, Jordan Dick, Garrett Werth, and T.J. Werth; and six great-grandchildren. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harvey, Gary, Melvin and stillborn baby Stoecklein; sisters, Sister Virginia, Dorothy, Judy Stoecklein, LuVera Rohr; a daughter, Denise Marie Werth; and a grandson, John Matthew Dick.
Parish rosary will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg officiating. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Church of the Holy Cross, or to the donor’s choice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
