Obituary;
Helen Coffey Hegwood, age 90, Atlanta, died November 27, 2021. She was born May 31, 1931 in Harriman, TN to Clatie and James Coffey.
After graduating from Berry College in Rome, Georgia she went on to teach school in Tennessee where she married the love of her life, Gene Hegwood. They moved to Atlanta and eventually settled in Chamblee where they raised their three children and started their successful family business, Hegwood Electric.
Helen found time to volunteer at the United Methodist Children's Home and at the First United Methodist Church in Chamblee. She also managed to find time to travel the world visiting Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, Canada and England and all 50 states. She dearly loved her family and friends and remained in touch and involved with them all until the week before her death.

Survivors include her daughters: Rise (Mike) Weathersby and Amy Hegwood; son, Kirk (Carmen) Hegwood; sister, Ann Sloan; brother, Clarence (Bonita) Coffey; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chamblee First United Methodist Church, 4147 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, Atlanta, GA 30341 or the United Methodist Children's Home (www.themethodisthome.org).

A committal service will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm at North Atlanta Memorial Park with Reverend Shayne Wheeler officiating. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Chamblee United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Fischer Funeral Care.
