His Legacy... Valentine Anthony Dreffs, 83, passed away July 7, 2016. He was born on April 3, 1933 in Johannesburg, Michigan to Alex and Veronica Dreffs. Valentine is a US Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. Valentine married the love of his life, Shirley (Gunderman) Dreffs on August 24, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alma, Michigan. Valentine was a deeply religious man who loved his family, holiday get-togethers and family reunions. He enjoyed sports, trips to the casino, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a retired assistant chief for Northfield Township Fire Dept., owned several race horses and owned Val's Service in Whitmore Lake, where he enjoyed going in to the station to visit with customers. Val never met a stranger and he was very active in the community and enjoyed helping others. His Family... Val will be missed by his wife, Shirley Dreffs; his children, Martin (Cindy) Dreffs, Linda Tite, Mark (Rhea) Dreffs, Joel (Kristine) Dreffs, James (Donya) Dreffs; his siblings, Monica (John E.) Judson, Rosie (Francis) Switalski, Floyd Dreffs, Marcella (Carl) Goosen and Virgil (Kathy) Dreffs; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers Cyril, William and Lawrence, and sister Agnes. His Farewell... Val's family and friends will gather Monday, July 11, 2016, 2:00 PM 8:00 PM with 7:30 PM Scripture Service at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at (9:30 AM Gathering) 10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 5671 Whitmore Lake Rd., Ann Arbor. Fr. Gerald Gawronski will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Wounded Warriors Foundation.
