In 1910 he lived with his parents and brother and sister on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in Jackson Township, Greene County, IN.

In 1920 he and his parents and six siblings lived there on the farm.

In 1930 he and his wife, their two children, and his brother Wayne lived in an apartment they were renting for $25 a month at 315B Barry Avenue in Whiting, IN. They had a radio. He worked as a pot filler(?) at an oil refinery and Wayne worked as a farm hand.

In 1940 he and Madge and their three children lived in a house they owned at 1814 Ann Street in Whiting. Their home was valued at $1500. He worked as a water tender in an oil refinery, with an income in 1939 of $2200 for 52 weeks of work.
