Memorial services were held Tuesday, August 11, 1992, from the Morinville United Church, for Clarence Weller "Tod" Pool, who passed away Tuesday, August 4, 1992 at the age of 74 years, six months. Tod's remains have been cremated and his ashes will be buried at his parent's gravesite in Beaverlodge Cemetery. His death was the result of a heart attack which occurred during the return part of a bus tour over the Alaska Highway with his wife Florence.
Tod was born at Beaverlodge, Alberta on January 28, 1918, where he took his elementary schooling. He later attended the University of Alberta and obtained a degree in engineering. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II.
Tod assumed his duties as Dawson Creek City Engineering on January 2, 1975, coming to the area from Regina. He held the post until his services were terminated on June 17, 1976. He served as alderman on Dawson Creek City Council during 1977 and 1978. He ran for Mayor in the fall of 1979, but lost out to Sid Cooper.
Tod became active with the South Peace Historical Society in Dawson Creek and was chairman of the "Book Committee," which published "Lure of the South Peace," a history of area residents in his lifetime.
Tod was a life member of the Engineering Association and was active in the Boy Scouts and numerous other community organizations. He was also an active bridge player and curler. Since his retirement to Morinville, Alberta in 1982, Tod enjoyed researching the Pool, Weller and Johnson family trees and traveling.
Tod is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence, three daughters, one son, six grandchildren and numerous extended family members. He was predeceased by two brothers and one son.
The family, friends and colleagues of Tod Pool will remember him with love and affection.
