J. Q. Adams, 81, Retired Educator
John Quincy Adams, 81, of Yellville, a retired school teacher and a lifetime resident of Marion County, died at a Yellville hospital last Saturday.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Dean Adams of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Johnson of Flippin; four brothers, Dr. A. V. Adams and Elmer Adams of Harrison, Jim Adams of Yakima, Wash., and Walter Adams of Carthage, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Nell Burns and Mrs. Ora Willingham of Yellville; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Adams was born at Yellville on Sept. 5, 1887, the son of John Quincy Adams Sr. and Nancy Emaline Keeter Adams.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Yellville Methodist Church by Rev. Aubrea Hayes and Rev. W. E. Browning. Interment was in the Layton Cemetery, under the direction of the Holt-Burns Funeral Service of Yellville.
Pallbearers were Burl King, Everett Dardin, Leo Avey, Roscoe Jefferson, Richard Ruble and Eldon Vernon. Honorary pallbearers were Walter Bridges, Kenneth Thomas, Cleo Martin, Lucian Layton, Sam Duren and Carl Burleson.
