BEEVILLE Murrel Spurlock, 80, of Beeville, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998. He was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Downsville, La. to the late Ellis and Pear Spurlock. He was a retired civil service employee of NAS Chase Field. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and First Baptist Church. Survivors: wife, Gladys Murphrey Spurlock; son, Ronald Spurlock of Corpus Christi; sisters, Palmer Spillers and Willie Powell, both of Downsville, La.; brothers, John Spurlock and J.L. Spurlock, both of Corpus Christi; one grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, the Rev. Mac Robinson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beulah Cemetery in Calhoun, La. Galloway & Sons Funeral Home, Beeville, 361-358-2512. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
