GILBERT JONES
Word has been received here of the death of Gilbert Marion Jones, 96, former resident of Wolcott, who succumbed Saturday, Jan. 14, 1961, following a long illness, in Snohomish, Wash.
The eldest son of Judson and Ellen Dowd Jones, he was born May 16, 1864, near Wolcott and married Mary Hutchinson on Feb. 23, 1884. Their children included Ellen, Luther, Andrew, Lizzie and Augusta. In 1903, the Jones family moved to Washington, living on a farm near Machias since 1908.
Among survivors are two sons, Luther and Andrew (both born at Wolcott), of Snohomish, Wash.; two daughters, Lizzie Lyons and Augusta Noel of Tucson, Ariz.; several grandchildren; a brother, Byrd Jones of Phoenix, Ariz; and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Bailey of Everett, Wash.
He was always interested in the news of Wolcott and until recently subscribed to the Lake Shore news.
