Here is his obit which appeared in the Hazelton Express newspaper May 1, 1897:
Died - Will George, April 24, 1897, at Oswatomie, Kansas
The people of this community were very much surprised on last Sunday morning to receive the said news of the death of William George which occurred at Oswatomie, Kansas, at 2 o'clock a.m. on the 24th . Mr. George was born in Germany and came to Leavenworth County, where his mother still lives. At his death he was about 50 years old and as he was among the early settlers he has spent an industrious life in helping to develop the resources and maintain the institutions of the state. From Leavenworth he came to Wabaunsee County where he lived a short time. In 1883 he came with his family to Barber County and proved up a claim near Hazelton. About seven years ago he had the misfortune to lose his mind, and it became necessary for the safety of his family to send him to the Asylum for the insane, where he died. His family had him brought home and his funeral was preached last Sunday by Rev. Mr. Broom at the M.E. Church in Hazelton, after which he was interred in the Hazelton cemetery.
His family has lost a kind husband and father, the community a good and obliging neighbor. His family has the sympathy of the entire community.
