Mrs. Ray E. Thornton
Mrs. Orpha Angeline Thornton, 48, of Pennfield township, wife of Ray E. Thornton, died at 7 a. m. Sunday of a stroke at the home of their son, Almeron Thornton of 344 East Michigan avenue. She had been in ill health for seven years, but well enough for them to visit their son Saturday evening. Mrs. Thornton was born Nov. 6, 1899, at Evart, the daughter of Almeron and Lydia (Stanton) Green. She moved here in 1910 with the family, and on Jan. 15, 1917, she and Mr. Thornton were married. Mrs. Thornton was a member of the Women of the Moose, the Convis Township Extension group, and the Beadle Lake Community club. Besides her husband and son, she is survived by another son, Jack, at home, and two grandchildren, Paula Jean and David, children of Almeron; five sisters, Mrs. Hilda Nave of Ionia, Mrs. Pearl Crapo of 116 Grove, Mrs. Elsie Garfield of 280 Avenue A, Mrs. Evelyn Brodock of 712 Emmett, and Mrs. Beulah Bristol of Olympia Was; and six brothers, Irvin Green of Pennfield township, Harry Green of Jackson, Clair Green of Rotue 1, Ray Green of Remus, and Leo and Elzie Green, resding near Bellevue.
