Death - "A. C. Hess Died Sunday of Pneumonia" – After a lingering illness of 2-weeks with typhoid pneumonia, A. C. Hess died last Sunday morning at the family home a mile south of town. He is survived by a wife and children. The remains were taken to Buckholts Monday afternoon where burial took place, that being the early home of Mr. Hess and is the present home of his parents and near relatives. [lengthy article]

Aaron Columbus Hess was born to Albert Pinkney and Napthalia M. Crain Hess on 10-3-1880 in Sparta, White County, Tennessee. He was the first of nine children. Aaron's siblings were: Albert Festo, Dollie, Jennie, Charles Gay, Furgley, Obie Horston, Joe Dee, and Edward.

Aaron married a widow, Sarah Smith Fontain, on 1-19-1904, in Hempstead County, Arkansas. Together they had five children, Harold Columbus, Anna Bell, Jack Smith, Elton L., and Lucile. He also raised Sarah's two children from her previous marriage, Joseph B. Fontain and Mattie Ewing Fontain.

Aaron Columbus Hess passed away on November 18, 1917.
