He is survived by his wife, Mae McCorkell, Eureka; one brother, J. L. McCorkell, Akron, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Walter Lloyd McCorkell will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Pierce Mortuary with Rev. Paul Magnum officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

Walter was the son of Indiana native Mary Jane Moore and Scottish immigrant Joseph McCorkell; brother of Elliott; Robert, Howard, Joseph, Elizabeth "Lizzie", and Louisa McCorkell.
At the time of the 1880 census, the family was living in Boone, Dallas County, Iowa. By 1900, the had moved to Akron, Plymouth County, Iowa.
Walter married Mae (Hunter) Barnhart on March 15, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa. Mae, a native of Holdridge, Nebraska, was the daughter of Ida Baxter and Alexander Hunter. This was a second marriage for both of them.
