Mrs. Alice Viola (Nance) Denning. 93, formerly of 229 E. Sangamon Ave, died at 10:05 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Hospital

Mrs. Denning was a member of Knox Knolls Free Methodist Church and Washington Street Mission. Born in Illinois, Mrs. Denning was the daughter of Soloman and Margeret Ostott Nance. Her husband George Washington Denning died in 1948. Also two sons, Irving E. "Gene" and George, and one daughter, Delta Stalder, proceded her in death.

Surviving are five sons, John, Edward, Kenneth and Robert, all of California, Junior of Peoria; eight daughters, Mrs. Gladys McMullin and Mrs. Lillian Fagg, both of Springfield, Mrs. Elvin (Elsie) Kenoyer of Arkansas, Mrs. Irine Kunkel, Mrs. Marcella Suterland, both of Illinois, Mrs. Lucille Denning and Mrs. Betty Jean Hays, both of California, and Mrs. Louise Armstrong of Indiana; one brother, Soloman Nance of Peterburg; two sisters, Mrs. Chole Strouh of Ohio and Mrs. Maye Stroup of Florida; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Knox Knolls Free Methodist Church, Dr. Willard M. Frost officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Publ in Illinois State Journal Register, Springfield, IL.

Daughter of Mary Margaret Otstott-Nance and Solomon Elson Nance. She married George Washington Denning on Nov 4, 1908. She and George had 16 children.
