Norman Claude Bauer
Norman Claude Bauer was born on June 10, 1928 on a farm northwest of Harper, to Noah Claude and Silvia (Plank) Bauer. This is where he and his siblings, Lyle and Jane grew up. Norman graduated with the Harper High School class of 1946.
In 1977, Norman married Marjorie Clara Evans in Wichita, Kansas. He also became a father to Marjorie’s son, Richard Massie. Norman was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Harper Masonic Lodge. Later in life, he and Marjorie moved to their home on Caddo Lake near Uncertain, Texas.
Norman became ill and was taken to the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall, Texas. This is where he passed away on May 26, 2016 at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 16 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lyle; and sister, Jane Eck.
Those he left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Marjorie of Uncertain, Texas; son, Richard Massie and wife, Carol of Pollok, Texas; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; nephews, Greg Bauer and wife, Kim of Harper and Tom Bauer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; great-nephew, Zach Bauer and wife, Kim of Harper; great-niece, Kodi Swander and husband, Shawn of Olathe; 1 great-great nephew and 2 great-great nieces; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1st at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper.
A Graveside Service will be held at 9:30a.m. Thursday, June 2nd at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Cemetery with Minister Jay Plank officiating. The cemetery is located 4 miles east of Harper on US Highway 160 and a half mile north on NE 40th Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Norman’s name to the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
